For years, Cornwall’s social deduction players have had two options: run games themselves in someone’s kitchen, or drive up-country to find a table. The nearest regular Blood on the Clocktower nights have been a motorway away, which for the fastest-growing party game in Britain always felt like a gap someone would eventually fill.
We’re filling it. The Sleuth Society is Cornwall’s first regular social deduction game night, and it lives at Locked In Cornwall in Camborne.
What it is
A hosted game night built around games of hidden roles, deception and deduction — the family of games that includes Werewolf, Among Us and, most famously right now, the dynamics behind The Traitors. Our flagship is Blood on the Clocktower: 7 to 20 players, a demon hidden among the town, days of debate and votes, nights of murder, and a Storyteller guiding the whole gorgeous mess to a finale that regularly comes down to a single vote.
Sessions run two to three hours. Complete beginners are welcome at every night — the Storyteller teaches the game at the table, and the beginner script exists precisely for new players. Come as a group or come alone; a table of part-strangers lying to each other becomes a table of friends remarkably fast.
Why an escape room venue
Every other game night of this kind in the UK happens in a pub function room or a community hall — perfectly serviceable, strip-lit, next to the quiz machine. The Sleuth Society happens inside a venue whose entire trade is atmosphere and suspense. The setting does half the storytelling before the first role is dealt, and we’d argue (with some bias, and some justification) there’s no better building in Cornwall to be accused of demonhood in.
It also solves a question our escape room regulars have asked for years: “we’ve done all three rooms — what now?” Now there’s an answer that isn’t “wait for us to build a fourth”.
Who it’s for
Traitors obsessives who want a seat at the round table instead of a sofa. Board gamers who’ve read about Clocktower’s cult status and never found a local table. Groups of friends after something beyond the pub. Work teams whose idea of bonding involves sanctioned betrayal (we host private and corporate nights too). And anyone who has ever kept a secret and enjoyed the weight of it.
Age-wise it’s a 12+ evening (12 to 15s come with an adult; 16+ solo is fine); no experience, equipment or homework required. Please don’t study the rules before your first night — genuinely, the clueless newcomer is one of the most dangerous players at any table.
How to join
Dates and tickets live on Eventbrite, and everything else — what to expect, the FAQ, why dead players keep playing — is on the Sleuth Society page. Nights are capped by the game’s player limits, so if a date’s showing, claim it.
Cornwall’s been priming for this for years: every Traitors series, every Among Us phase, every kitchen Werewolf game that got out of hand. The Society just gives it a home — with better lighting, worse intentions, and a demon already seated at the table.
See you at the round table. Trust no one who says they’re a librarian.
