Family Escape Rooms in Cornwall — Adventures the Whole Family Wins

It’s Tuesday, it’s half term, it’s raining sideways, and someone under twelve has just announced they’re bored. Cornwall is full of things to do with kids — until the weather turns or the novelty wears off, and then every parent in the county is scrolling their phone for the same answer.

Here’s ours: put the family in a room together, give them one hour and one mission, and watch what happens.

Why escape rooms work for families

Most family days out have a spectator problem. One person drives the fun and everyone else watches. An escape room flips that. Every puzzle in the room rewards a different skill, which means the eight-year-old who notices everything, the teenager who won’t be beaten by a code, and the parent who’s weirdly good at riddles all get their moment.

You’re a team. There’s a clock. Nobody’s phone works as a shortcut. For one hour, everyone is completely, genuinely playing together — and when the family beats the room, it’s a shared win everyone claims credit for. Loudly. For weeks.

The questions parents actually ask

How young is too young? There’s no minimum age — bring the whole family. Under-14s play with an adult in the game, and little ones join in where they can; the searching jobs suit them surprisingly well.

Is it scary? Puzzle Escape 2.0, our family room, has no scares at all — it’s bright, playful and built for mixed ages. The Smoke House Curse is moodier, better for teens and up.

What if we get stuck? Your game master watches the whole game and sends hints before frustration sets in. Families always get out with a story to tell.

Are we actually locked in? No. Anyone can step out at any time — toilet breaks and overwhelmed little ones included.

Who can play, and from what age

Children can play from age seven, and they usually throw themselves into it. Younger ones are welcome to come along and join in with the family, and we don’t charge for under-sevens. Each room takes two to seven players, which suits most family groups.

Parking is free right outside, and well-behaved dogs are welcome, so nobody gets left waiting in the car.
