About

Locked In Cornwall opened its doors in 2016, which makes us the longest-running escape room venue in Cornwall. Escape rooms were still a novelty in the UK back then — most people needed the concept explained twice — and we’ve been locking people in (and letting them out again) ever since.

Built here, not bought in

Plenty of escape room venues buy their games off the shelf. The same rooms, the same puzzles, the same props, copy-pasted into industrial units across the country.

We’ve never done that. Every room at Locked In Cornwall — The Smoke House Curse, Puzzle Escape 2.0 and Pasty Escape — was dreamed up, designed and built in-house, in Camborne. When a puzzle clicks open, you’re touching something that was made twenty feet from where you’re standing, by the same people who briefed you at the door.

It’s why our games feel like Cornwall. Pasty Escape, our love letter to the county’s most famous export and its most mischievous folklore, simply could not exist anywhere else. We’re quite proud of that.

Award-winning games

We’re a five-time winner of TripAdvisor’s Travellers’ Choice Award — 2021, 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026 — the award given to the top 10% of attractions worldwide, based on what players actually said. At the time of writing we’re rated 4.9 from 277 reviews on TripAdvisor, the number one fun and games activity in Camborne, and 4.8 from 236 reviews on Google.

The team

Locked In Cornwall is run by Alex Hart, and the game masters you’ll meet — Charlie and Rob, who get name-checked in our reviews most weeks — are the same people who build and maintain the rooms. Small team, high standards, unreasonable enthusiasm for hiding things inside other things.

Alex fell for escape rooms the way plenty of people do: on holiday, on a rainy day. He stumbled into his first room while travelling in Europe, loved it, and kept playing. When COVID turned everything upside down, the chance came up to buy Locked In as the previous owner moved on to pastures new, and the shutdown became the opportunity to rebuild: a full internal refurbishment, then a brand-new game designed from scratch. The new room landed well, the hobby turned into full-time work, and it still doesn’t feel much like work.

Beyond the rooms

In 2026 we launched The Sleuth Society, Cornwall’s first regular social deduction game night, hosting Blood on the Clocktower inside the venue. Once you’ve escaped all three rooms, it’s how you keep coming back.
