1. The brief (about these terms)
Every job needs a brief, and this is yours. These terms and conditions set the rules for every booking, visit and game at Locked In Cornwall (“we”, “us”, “our”), operated by Locked In Escape Rooms Cornwall Ltd, along with whatever you get up to over on lockedincornwall.com. Read them properly. When you book, you’re signing your whole crew up to these terms — and it’s on you to see that every last member has read and understood the brief before you head in.
2. The job (our games)
Locked In Cornwall runs live escape-room games — right now the line-up is Pasty Escape, Puzzle Escape 2.0 and The Smoke House Curse. Each job runs for 60 minutes. Throughout, a game master keeps watch over your room by camera and audio — there to keep you safe and to slip you a clue when the crew hits a wall. You can walk out whenever you like: where a room’s door locks during the job, there’s always a clearly marked emergency release right beside it, so the exit is never more than a button away.
3. Securing the slot (booking and payment)
- A game is booked per room, covering your whole crew — the price shown at checkout holds that room for the size of group you’re bringing.
- Payment lands at the moment you book — that’s what nails the slot down and keeps it yours.
- Most rooms run 2 to 8 players — groups larger than the online maximum should call us first. Book for the number who’ll actually be on the job, so we can set the room up right.
- Give us contact details that work — we use them to confirm the booking and to reach you if the plan shifts.
- Booking online is handled by SimplyBook. Book through them and you’re also signing on to SimplyBook’s terms and conditions, which govern how your booking is handled and processed.
4. Casing the joint (arriving for your game)
Get to the venue a couple of minutes before your booked start so we can sign the crew in and get you moving. In fairness to the groups booked after you, every job starts and ends bang on its booked time: arrive late and your game may get cut short, because we can’t let it overrun the booked finish. Falling behind? Ring us on 01209 862796 the second you know. Turn up too late to play at all and it counts as a no-show under our Cancellation Policy.
5. Know the risks (health, safety and suitability)
Our jobs unfold in sealed-off, themed sets, and they can bring low lighting, moody sound, strobe or flashing lights and a jump scare or two. Joining in is entirely your choice and, subject to section 10 below, at your own risk. If that’s not your scene — or if anyone on the crew is pregnant, or is dealing with something like a heart condition, epilepsy or light sensitivity, claustrophobia, or a mobility need — talk to us before booking and we’ll gladly point you at the room that fits. Don’t run a job under the influence of drink or drugs: we can refuse entry on safety grounds, with no refund. And everyone sticks to our safety instructions and signage, start to finish.
6. Who’s on the crew (minimum age and supervision)
The Smoke House Curse is recommended for ages 13 and over; younger players may take part at a parent’s or guardian’s discretion. Our other rooms, including the family-friendly Puzzle Escape 2.0, suit a wider range of ages. Anyone under 16 must be accompanied in the room by a participating adult aged 18 or over. We might ask to see proof of age before we wave you through.
7. On the job (during the game)
- Follow your game master’s lead at all times — on this job, they’re running point.
- Every puzzle gives way to brainpower, never brute force — so no climbing on, standing on or wrenching at the fixtures, and tools, torches and phones stay out of the room.
- Turn unsafe, threatening or damaging — towards your own crew, other guests, our team or the venue — and the job’s over: we’ll stop the game and walk you out, with no refund.
- Wreck something on purpose or through recklessness — our rooms or props — and it’s on you: we may charge the reasonable cost of putting it right or replacing it.
8. Stash the loot (your belongings)
Use the space or lockers we hand you and keep valuables out of the room. Unless the fault is our own negligence, we’re not on the hook for loss, theft or damage to any personal belongings you bring to the venue.
9. No leaks (photography, recording and keeping the secret)
The rooms are watched over for safety and game-play. We don’t record sessions as a rule, and if we ever wanted a photo or a clip of your crew for marketing, we’d check with you before using it. Do us one favour in return and keep the secret for the crews coming in after you: no photos or filming inside the rooms, and no spilling puzzle solutions or spoilers online.
10. The serious bit (our responsibility to you)
Here’s the part we don’t dress up. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be excluded or limited under the law of England and Wales. Subject to that: you take part in our games voluntarily and at your own risk; we are not liable for indirect or consequential losses; and our total liability in connection with a booking is capped at the amount you paid for that booking. None of this affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
11. The gift job (gift vouchers)
Gift vouchers stay good for 12 months from the day they’re bought and can be spent against any bookable game, subject to availability. They’re non-refundable, though you’re free to pass one on to someone else. The full rundown lives in our Cancellation Policy.
12. Changing the plan (cancellations, changes and refunds)
How to move or call off a booking, and when a refund’s due, is all laid out in our Cancellation Policy, which counts as part of these terms.
13. Keeping your details under wraps (your privacy)
We handle your personal information the way we set out in our Privacy Policy. We hold on to booking and waiver records for six years, in case of any personal-injury claim, as the law of England and Wales allows.
14. Rewrites and the rulebook (changes to these terms and governing law)
We may tweak these terms every so often; the version that governs your booking is whichever one is up on lockedincornwall.com at the moment you book. These terms run under the law of England and Wales, and any dispute goes before its courts.
