Booking and prices

How do I book a room?

Book online through the calendar on this site, or call us on 01209 862796. The calendar shows live availability, so if a slot is showing, it’s free to take.

How much does an escape room cost?

Pricing is per room, based on team size, from £60 for two players up to £140 for a full room of seven, which works out at between £20 and £30 each. Groups of eight or more pay a flat £20 per person. The full price list is further down this page.

Do I need to book in advance, or can I walk in?

Book ahead. We staff the venue around bookings, so booking is what guarantees the doors are open and a game master is waiting. Same-day online bookings are often fine, but a walk-in only works if sessions are already running that day.

Can I move or cancel my booking?

Call us on 01209 862796 as soon as you know and we’ll do what we can to move your slot to a better time.

Do you sell gift vouchers?

Yes. A voucher covers any room and is valid for a year. See the gift vouchers page.

Can you invoice a company booking?

Yes. For corporate and larger group bookings we can send an invoice rather than taking payment up front. Mention it when you get in touch.

Players, ages and groups

How many people can play in one room?

Two to seven players, whichever room you pick. One team per room, so your booking is private and you won’t be paired with strangers.

Is there a minimum age? Is it suitable for children?

There’s no minimum age and children of any age are welcome. Under-14s play with an adult in the game. Puzzle Escape 2.0 is our family room, and the family page has more for parents.

Can we book a group of more than seven?

Yes. Groups of eight or more play at a flat £20 per person, split across our rooms, and we can run up to 21 players at once in three games side by side. Call 01209 862796 to arrange it.

Can teams compete against each other?

Yes. When we run more than one room at the same time, we score every team on a fair basis across the different rooms and group sizes, so a team of three isn’t at a disadvantage against a team of six.

Can we book just our own group, with no strangers?

Every booking is already private. The room is yours alone for the hour.

Can I bring my dog?

Yes, as long as your dog is well behaved. If there’s any mess or damage, we’ll ask you to clear it up or cover the cost of putting it right.

Do you do corporate and team building days?

Yes. Work socials, away days and team building are some of our most common bookings. The corporate team building page covers how it works.

In the room

What is an escape room?

An escape room is a live game where your team is shut in a themed room with 60 minutes to find clues, solve puzzles and work out how to get out. There’s no acting involved and nothing to be scared of, just puzzles and teamwork against the clock.

How long does the whole experience take?

The game itself is 60 minutes. Allow about 90 for the whole visit, with the briefing beforehand and photos after.

Which room should we choose?

Puzzle Escape 2.0 is the gentlest and the best place to start if it’s your first time. Pasty Escape is our Cornish story, piskies and all, and a favourite with visitors. The Smoke House Curse is the spookiest and most atmospheric, and the one we point experienced players towards.

Is it scary?

No. The Smoke House Curse is atmospheric and a little spooky, but there are no actors and no jump scares. All three rooms are fine for families.

Are we actually locked in?

No. The door is never physically locked, and you can step out at any point if you need to. Being ‘locked in’ is the theme, not the reality.

Do you give hints if we get stuck?

Yes. A game master watches every game and will nudge you along if you’re properly stuck, so you won’t lose half your hour to one padlock.

What if we don’t escape in time?

Plenty of teams don’t beat the clock, and it’s still a good hour out. Your game master will show you how the last few puzzles worked so you leave knowing how it ends.

How many teams actually escape?

It depends on the room. Around 84% beat Puzzle Escape 2.0, 83% solve Pasty Escape and 76% break The Smoke House Curse.

What happens when we arrive?

Arrive a few minutes before your slot. Your game master gives the team a short briefing, the story, the rules and how hints work, then it’s into the room and the hour begins. Afterwards there’s the team photo and the score.
